Raising children is an incredible experience for parents. Over the years, they get to watch their little ones grow up and really find themselves as they explore their individuality and get a better grasp on their own identity. Some parents don’t mind whether they have sons or daughters, while others hope to have a mix of both.
Having siblings is a great way for kids to start socializing with others and know that they always have a friend. This is something that Melissa Hatch and her family have come to know all too well. Back in July 2015, Hatch uploaded a video to her YouTube account showing an important moment in her family’s life.
At the time, she was the mother of five children — all boys — and was pregnant with her sixth child. One could only imagine all of the antics that went on in that household, as the five sons all seemed to be relatively young. Hatch was the only woman in her household, and it was clear that she longed to have a daughter.
The family threw a gender reveal party with plenty of their friends and family members. There were pink and blue cupcakes on a tray on their kitchen table, as well as a big white-frosted cake, waiting to be cut open with the gender reveal surprise inside. Finally, it was time for Hatch and her husband to find out if they were going to have yet another boy or their very first baby girl. Read on to find out more about this emotional gender reveal.

In the video from July 2015, Hatch eagerly anticipated the moment she would get to cut into the cake that would tell her if she was going to have another son or her very first daughter. The anticipation and excitement lingered in the air as friends and family members watched on, waiting for the special moment.
Standing alongside her husband in front of a table that had pink and blue cupcakes, as well as a cake frosted with white icing, Hatch was ready to find out the gender of her future child. Her five sons were just as eager as she was, and Hatch and her partner cut into the larger cake. They pulled the piece of cake away, and Hatch immediately became overwhelmed with emotions and began to cry.
The family was finally going to welcome a baby girl!
Everyone was bursting with joy and excitement for Hatch and her husband — even their five sons were over the moon about the fact that they would finally have a sister. The emotional moment clearly resonated with people who weren’t even at the party, as it garnered more than 1.5 million views and over 500 comments. One person commented, “Everyone we saw, mom, dad, the brothers seemed genuinely thrilled for this princess.” Another said, “I absolutely ADORE that the boys were so excited to be getting a sister!!”
Meanwhile, other users told similar stories of couples that wished to have a girl after having multiple boys. The feeling must be one of the greatest things in the world.
“When I married my husband, he was a single father with 3 boys. I myself was a single mother with 4 boys. A year after we married we welcomed the 8th boy 😊 Now the boys have 3 younger sisters. Ages range from 27 down to just 17 months. I love having a big family and believe each child is truly a blessing.”
“Awww, how lovely ♡ I know a lady who’d had 6 boys, and kept trying for a girl. Her 7th was a girl. So she went again to try for another girl as a playmate for the first… ANOTHER BOY! 1 girl out of 8 children!!! :-)”
Meanwhile, others made jokes about how protective the girl’s older brothers will be of her one day! One person joked, “I pray for that girls (sic) future boyfriend.” Another said:
“My cousin and her husband had 6 boy’s (sic) before getting their girl. Her brothers are super protective. They all say she’s their little princess. Lmao and all 6 boy’s (sic) say it.”
Another person guessed that she will be a “daddy’s girl for sure.” People clearly loved the video as it now has over 1.5 million views! It’s wonderful that this special moment has been shared with the world.
In the comments, Hatch revealed that her sister had made the gender reveal cake and was the only one who knew about the outcome beforehand. All in all, it seemed like a very heartwarming moment for the entire family.
